People often ask us what the best motoring advice is. We believe everyone wants a vehicle that:

  • runs well (no breakdowns)
  • runs efficiently (uses less fuel)
  • holds it’s value as much as possible

Here's a few pointers based on the best advice I can give you to help achieve the above...

Check your tyre treads!

Legally, tyre treads must be at least 1.5mm deep across three quarters of the tread pattern around the entire tyre.

A tyre with more tread on it is safer in the wet.

Watch out for brake fade!

Heavy braking use can attract moisture into the brake fluid, which can lead to 'brake fade' and corrosion within the brake system. We recommend replacing brake fluid at least every two years.

Regular servicing pays off!

A vehicle with a regular service history breaks down less often; uses less fuel; and can be worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars more on re-sale that a neglected vehicle. But all too often, vehicle owners just wait until their motoring problem reaches a critical point. This often causes extra motoring problems, involves greater expense, and creates extra stress for the vehicle owner.

Take care of it all in one hit!

It's a good idea to combine your WOF and vehicle service, because WOF inspections do not cover all aspects of your vehicle.

For example engine, clutch, gearbox and differential; lubricant levels and condition; brake pad thickness or life expectancy; and paint work condition and rust in non-structural areas are not checked in WOF, but they can be checked as part of a vehicle service.

Worn shock absorbers can be deadly!

Worn Shock Absorbers car have a dramatic effect on the handling of your vehicle.

Tests have shown that if just one shock absorber is worn, a vehicle may need an extra 2.6 metres to stop.

That will often mean the difference between stopping safely and crashing – or injury and death.

Worn Shock Absorbers are a safety hazard and can create extra wear in other components in your car.
